How much pork prices will decline?
Due to the VAT reduction, the retail price of pork dropped by 17 percent from 27 to 5 percent from January 1. The trade association predicts that an annual 25 billion HUF will remain in the buyers’ pockets.
The press department of Tesco told Magyar Nemzet that they welcome the reduction of the VAT of pork, which contributes to the whitening of the economy, and based on estimates it can increase the amount of sold pork by twenty percent. (Gyöngyösi Balázs, Magyar Nemzet Online)
