Wreath laying ceremony at the memorial plaque
Every March the Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs (MVI), the Hungarian Museum of Trade and Tourism (MKVM) and the Gundel family remembers János Gundel with a wreath laying ceremony at his memorial plaque in Akadémia Street.
In his speech MVI president László Kovács spoke about the role of János Gundel in the creation of modern Hungarian hospitality and tourism. He called attention to how Mr Gundel reformed Hungarian cuisine – which had used lots of fat and strong spices before – to make it lighter.
On behalf of the family BGE professor Dr János Gundel talked about his ancestor’s achievements. MKVM director Imre Kiss and BVHSZC deputy director general Katalin Dala Nagy also paid tribute. //
