The decline in the number of bees causes sevetal billion forint damages to agriculture due to the lack of pollination of plants – Haász Ferenc, chairman of the Göndöcs Benedek Beekeepers’ Association of Békés County told MTI.
In Békés county the number of bee colonies decreased by 6-7 percent last year. More and more people are abandoning beekeeping, the county association currently has 620 members, thirty percent fewer than last year, adding that bees are also destroyed by pests and various chemicals. (MTI)
