There is a psychological limit to domestic hospitality spending
This is also evident from the representative research commissioned by the Hungarian-owned Eventrend Group, which deals with hospitality, event organization and hotel management, in the fall of 2024. The public opinion poll also states that it is not worth relying on digital nomads for the time being, and that men do enjoy life more.
An important basic piece of information when evaluating the analysis is that the questionnaire only includes the answers of those who visit hospitality establishments at least 1-2 times a year. According to the best expert estimates, more than 80 percent of adult Hungarians fall into this category, so the issue of the decision-making mechanism related to hospitality can primarily be attributed to them. In the survey, hospitality units do not only refer to restaurants, but also, for example, pastry shops, cafes, or any unit where guests can purchase food, sweets, or drinks as a service, but which is not a store. The survey was completed in the fall of 2024.
How often do we go somewhere?
According to the data, 11 percent of visitors to catering establishments visit several times a week, 12 percent visit once a week, a quarter of those over 18 visit a catering establishment monthly, 18 percent visit several times a year, and a fifth visit only 1-2 times a year.
Surprisingly, we did not find significant differences in the averages when looking at settlement types, but the differences are very significant according to gender, age groups, education and income status.
