The laboratory of the University of Pécs, suitable for conducting grape and wine analytical tests, has been renovated
The recently modernized laboratory of the Viticulture and Enology Research Institute of the University of Pécs (PTE SZBKI), suitable for performing grape and wine analytical tests, was handed over on Thursday in the Baranya county seat.
The accredited laboratory, modernized with a 127 million forint grant from the foundation that maintains the university, has become capable of conducting the tests necessary for the marketing of wine.
Olga Beáta Felkai, Deputy State Secretary for the Food Chain at the Ministry of Agriculture (AM), said at the handover on Thursday that significant changes can be observed in consumption habits and quantities on the wine market, therefore it is particularly important that “high-quality, as efficiently and competitively produced products” are placed in front of customers.
He said that the Nébih issues approximately 16,000 marketing authorizations annually, and since 2021 the legal environment has allowed other accredited laboratories besides the office to carry out the necessary tests.
He expressed his joy that from now on, the PTE research institute will also assist in this work process, and in addition, the laboratory operates in a region where several renowned wine regions are located.
