U.S. spirit consumption increased
According to AC Nielsen’s statistics; There was a large increase in the four weeks until 19th September in the volume of spirits, sold in the United States. The biggest winner was Diageo (Zwack partner), which is owed the success to its promotional action
The AC Nielsen examined supermarket sales, which only covers 20 percent of the market. The available data suggests, that in the tested period, the U.S. spirits sales increased by 6.6 percent compared to year's comparable period. The value compared to the 2-3 percent increases that were seen in recent months, can be considered outstanding. By examining the large increase, of course it should be noted, that Labor Day was in the time of the test period. In addition, the companies’ short-term promotions also pulled up the statistics.
