Integration into the DACHSER Food Logistics network begins
At the end of December, DACHSER signed an agreement to acquire Frigoscandia, the leading temperature-controlled and frozen goods logistics provider on the Scandinavian market, with the private equity investor Mutares SE & Co KGaA. This move enables DACHSER to extend its food logistics network to the Nordic countries as well. In February, the European Commission also approved the acquisition. The acquisition process was completed on March 4, so the integration into the DACHSER network can begin.
“The acquisition significantly strengthens our food logistics position in the Nordic region,” said Burkhard Eling, CEO of DACHSER. “For Frigoscandia, integration into the DACHSER network is an important step towards long-term and secure development within a dynamically growing company. Frigoscandia is an excellent fit to our business and growth strategy in Sweden, Norway and Finland. The two companies share the same vision of values and quality.”
DACHSER is currently represented in the Nordic countries by its European Logistics business unit dealing with the transport and storage of industrial and consumer goods, as well as by an air and sea freight organization. Frigoscandia, based in Helsingborg, Sweden, has a dense and efficient distribution network for temperature-controlled and frozen food. The company provides shipping services throughout Sweden through a national network. To fulfill these, it cooperates with service partners, but also has its own fleet of trucks. In the field of international food logistics, Frigoscandia is present with road, air and sea transport and operates in 51 markets.
