Prices going up in January
Though average consumer prices rose by 1,2 per cent in January, the annual increase for last year reached 7,8 per cent. According to the report by KSH, the price of food rose quicker than average in January, by 1,4 per cent. The price of food grew by 13,1 per cent last year, which is far more than the average price increase. The prices rose by 28,4 % for seasonal foods, 25,5 % for sugar, 20,5 % for bakery products, 17,9 % for pasta, 17,3 % for eggs, and 16,2 % for bread. The average farm price of agricultural products rose by 10,6 per cent in 2006, compared to the year before, while the costs of agricultural production grew by 7,1 per cent. The average farm price of grain rose by 24,1 per cent after a 9,9 per cent fall in 2005.
