It is worth choosing domestic products
Nébih initiated proceedings against one of the foreign store chains present in our country due to salmonella-infected German pork. The case also pointed out that it is worthwhile to choose Hungarian products in stores, since goods from domestic suppliers undergo strict food safety checks, and moreover, they can end up in customers’ baskets within a short time after production. The National Chamber of Agrarian Economy and the Association of Hungarian Butchers are confident that this is a one-time case, and in the future, retail chains will fill their shelves with safe domestic products instead of foreign products of low purchase price and dubious quality, relying on their reliable Hungarian supplier relationships.
The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) initiated proceedings against one of the retail chains with an extensive store network in Hungary for suspected violations of food safety regulations, after the authority’s experts detected the presence of salmonella bacteria in a prepackaged minced pork product from Germany.
The incident came to light when Nébih’s specialists took samples of the fresh pork minced meat products available in stores for microbiological testing
Since the product is presumably no longer in the stores – due to the short warranty, the supermarket chain may have quickly oversold it – there is therefore no possibility of a product recall. Although the case does not cause excessive concern on the part of the customers, the salmonella bacteria disappears from the products after thorough heat treatment, but the case highlights one thing very well. As the National Chamber of Agriculture and the Association of Hungarian Butchers have pointed out in numerous cases, the origin of the products is of particular importance in the case of fresh goods. Hungarian food undergoes the strictest food safety inspection in Europe, and in contrast to goods imported from foreign countries, the delivery process is significantly shorter, which guarantees not only the quality of the products, but also the freshness of the goods.
Would like to continue to encourage consumers to consciously choose from the store’s offer every time they shop
Even in the case of a significant sale, consider whether it is really worth choosing the cheaper foreign product instead of the guaranteed high-quality Hungarian product. At the same time, chain stores have no interest in serving their customers with low-quality goods. They are confident that this is a one-time case, and in the future, retail chains will fill their shelves with safe domestic products instead of foreign products of low purchase price and dubious quality, relying on their reliable Hungarian supplier relationships.
