Magazine: Less money available to pay workers for extra hours
In the last four years those who work in retail trade did 30 percent more overtime. Meanwhile the salary costs of employers increased by 40 percent, HUF 180 billion – informed a newsletter published by blokk.com on 12 November. Shop staff get 50 percent more pay for the extra hours, but they can also opt for rest time or days off instead. In the first eight months of 2017 workers did less overtime than in the same period of 2016, but between 2013 and 2016 the number of extra hours got almost 1.5 times bigger in retail, as employers were trying to cope with the lack of workforce. In this period only 2-3 percent more people were recruited in the sector per year, while salary costs elevated by one quarter if compared with 2013. //
