Decade-long partnership with Hungarian wineries
Promoting Hungarian products and export increasing activities have always been important for Lidl Magyarország. The chain decided back in 2014 to give priority to popularising excellent Hungarian bottled wines as part of its “Lidl for Hungarian Suppliers” programme and assists Hungarian wineries in accessing foreign markets through the “Lidl Wine Expo”.
10 years, more than 200 million bottles
Lidl Magyarország sold more than 200 million bottles of Hungarian wine over the past 10 years – half of this abroad.
“Wine distribution is one of our successes that we are extremely proud. Since the start of the programme our domestic suppliers have realised more than HUF 90bn in revenues. In 2023 we contributed to selling 29 million bottles of Hungarian wine in Hungary and abroad”,
informed Judit Tőzsér.
From family wineries to large wineries
Lidl Wine Expo plays a key role in ensuring that Hungarian wines remain competitive in the international market. Over the past decade over 100 million bottles of Hungarian wine appeared on the shelves of Lidl stores abroad. Lidl’s wine selection is based on specific professional criteria, so it cooperates with both small family wineries and large winemakers. //
