On the initiative of the Hungarians, May 10 became World Poultry Day
We Hungarians took the initiative in August 2012, with the support of two world organizations operating in the field of poultry products (WPSA, IPC), to declare May 10 as World Poultry Day.
Poultry production of the world
This event provides an opportunity for the poultry product line, which plays a prominent role in feeding the world’s population, to draw attention to its role in nutrition, its current trends, and its future challenges. The role played by poultry products in the national diet is indisputable, since poultry meat and eggs are the most widely produced animal products and are the most important source of protein for humanity today.
With the increase in the number of people and the demand for food, the role of the poultry industry is even stronger, as it is able to produce products of excellent quality and high nutritional value extremely efficiently, with a low environmental footprint and without religious prohibitions. It is no wonder, then, that both the world’s poultry meat production and egg production are growing dynamically.
