Each year, 1.8 million tons of food products are thrown out in Hungary
In Hungary 1.8 million tons of food products are thrown out each year, of which only 2,000 tons are gathered to feed the needy – Cseh Balázs, President of the Hungarian Food Bank Association told at a press conference in Budapest on Thursday.
The president of the association talked about in relation that they organized the Chance to the Food Day, together with another 12 organizations. During the Chance to the Food Day, 5,000 meals are distributed to needy people in the capital and its surroundings.
Cseh Balázs told that the number of starving people in Hungary may range from 100,000 to 200,000. And the number of those who cannot have the access to adequate foods can be millions. (MTI)
