Poor employment datas in Hungary
According to the Central Statistical Office; In Hungary, 98 thousand less people was employed last year, compared to a year earlier. The 55.4 percent employment rate among the 15-64 year olds, is much lower than the EU average of 64.8 percent.
Among
the EU countries, only Malta has lower employment rate of 54.9 percent, than
Hungary. Hungary’s employment rate is close to the Italian (57.9 percent) and
the Romanian (59.2 percent) employment rates.
In 2009, 61.1 percent of men, aged between 15-64 and 50
percent of women, aged between 15-64 were employed in Hungary. The men's
employment rate showed a larger gap, compared to the EU average.
