Hungary’s cakes in 2019
In 2019 the Guild of Hungarian Confectioners organised the Cake of Hungary competition for the 13th time.
A jury of experts picked the winner from 31 entries: in 2019 Blessed Virgin’s Lace by Norbert Tóth from Dunaföldvár became the Cake of Hungary; Little Chestnut by László Gyuris from Szeged was named Hungary’s sugar-free cake of the year. After a pre-selection, the finalists had to prepare their cakes in the final, which the jury evaluated. Blessed Virgin’s Lace is a raspberry-based cake, while Little Chestnut isn’t only free from sugar but flour too. In order to preserve the high quality of the cakes, both recipes will remain a secret until the end of the year – until then only guild members can prepare them. //
