Magazine: Which trade fair to pick in 2015?
Grüne Woche, 16-28. January 2015, Berlin
The Grüne Woche food, agriculture and gardening trade fair will be organised for the 80th time next year. A summit for government ministers and officials will accompany the event for the 7th time. From the 1,689 exhibitors about 1,000 were German and the rest came from 69 countries last year. In 2014 more than 400,000 visitors were registered at Grüne Woche.
Spielwarenmesse, 28 January-2 February 2015, Nuremberg
In addition to toys and games, the Nuremberg event also specialises in school equipment, books, educational multimedia material, fashion and sporting items. One of the trends which will be discussed is called STEM by the organisers: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Stunning numbers about the exhibition: 1 million products from which 75,000 are new, 2,700 exhibitors from 60 countries, and 75,000 visitors from 120 countries.
ISM, 1-4 February 2015, Cologne
ISM is organised for the 45th time and it is as popular as ever, last year there were 1,400 exhibitors from 70 countries and 35,000 visitors from 140 countries. German Minister of Agriculture Christian Schmidt will open the trade exhibition. This year not only confectioneries but also snacks and coffees, plus frozen products will be present. The accompanying event ProSweet Cologne will introduce confectionery accessories.

From producers to retailers, all actors from the industry are represented here. 88 percent of those who come are decision-makers working in the sourcing process and 80 percent of them are executives. As for the exhibitors, last time there were 2,600 of them and they represented 80 countries.
Horeca, 6-9 February 2015, Athens
Horeca is organised for the 10th time and about 500 exhibitors are expected. There will be several accompanying events, but what they will be is still to be confirmed by the organisers. One thing is sure, this year CSR activities will be in focus.
Biofach, Vivaness, 11-14 February 2015, Nuremberg
2015 will be the 26th year that organic products are showcased in the German city. The trade fair is a perfect occasion for organic product manufacturers to meet and get to know the latest trends; Vivaness focuses on organic cosmetics. This year there were more than 2,220 exhibitors from 76 countries and 42,000 visitors from 135 countries.
ProWein, 15-17 March 2015, Düsseldorf
The best winemakers from all over the world come to Düsseldorf, but the Horeca sector is also represented here. Organisers calculate with 5,000 exhibitors from 50 countries. This time Bolivia will be the special guest and organic wines will also be given special attention.
GlobalShop, 24-26 March 2015, Las Vegas
ARE ad POPAI have been organising the GlobalShop retail design and shopper marketing trade fair for nearly 20 years. The next event will take place in 5 pavilions built in the Mandala Bay Center, focusing on 5 areas: Store Fixturing, Visual Merchandising, Store Design and Operations, Digital Store and At-Retail Marketplace. GlobalShop will also host the POPAI Global Awards ceremony – there will be 3 Hungarian entries in the competition.

Packaging can be an experience in itself – which shoppers actually demand, especially when buying premium quality products.
TuttoFood, 3-6 May 2015, Milan
Just three days after Expo Milano TuttoFood will open its gates – the timing isn’t accidental, estimation is that there will be 20,000 more visitors at the FMCG trade exhibition because of the date. Its representative Zsuzsa Gönczy told our magazine that visitors are always very satisfied with the event and its results. TuttoFood is held every other year and in 2013 there were 1,800 exhibitors and more than 50,000 buyers (from these 1,934 were so-called top buyers) from 60 countries.
PLMA, 19-20 May 2015, Amsterdam
Surveys show that retail chains’ private label products are increasingly popular, therefore the popularity of this conference is growing as well. The Dutch event now also has a Chinese and US mutation but the dates for these haven’t been confirmed yet. A really interesting feature of the official website is the Idea Supermarket, a virtual showroom for private label products.
Speciality & Fine Food Fair, 6-8 September 2015, London
This is the trade fair where one can find every product which are sure to be missing from the average hypermarket. Local producers and products, small manufacturers and the chefs of small restaurants with their products – they can all be found here, among both exhibitors and visitors. This year chocolate will be in the spotlight. Last year the event attracted 12,000 visitors.
Eu’vend, Coffena, 24-26 September 2015, Cologne
Last time 217 enterprises from 23 countries showcased their products and services at Eu’vend, Coffena. There were 5,000 trade visitors at the event that takes place every other year – 34 percent of them came from 60 countries. The latest technological solutions are presented here and the Vending Star innovation competition is also organised.

A new stationery and office supplies trade fair organised by the same team as Spielwarenmesse. It is already sure that the representatives of Hama, Stabilo, Faber-Castell, Staedtler and Duo Schreib will be there.
Anuga FoodTec, 24-27 March 2015, Cologne
Anuga, 10-14 October 2015, Cologne
Márta Kakuk, the fair’s representative in Hungary informed us that practically there is already full house at Anuga. This spring FoodTec – which is only held every three years – will also be organised: this event will concentrate on the latest technology used in manufacturing and packaging, but food safety and production issues will also be discussed.
