We are raising Kyrgyz-Hungarian agricultural relations to a higher level
We will further strengthen the cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and our country in the field of seed production, crop cultivation and animal husbandry – said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy, who met with Kyrgyz Minister of Agriculture Askarbek Dzanibekov in Bishkek on Tuesday.
At the meeting, the head of the ministry drew attention to the fact that the role of agriculture is increasingly valued, and that we must find the right answers in this rapidly changing world. However, this cannot be done alone, which is why we are looking for partners. We need to find the joint projects through which we can further strengthen our economies, he added.
The minister considers it an important step forward that Kyrgyzstan imported ten times more seeds this year than last year
So far, five Hungarian bred hybrids have already been registered and another 12 may be registered soon. The Kyrgyz side is prepared to set aside high-quality land for the most efficient seed production. He emphasized: it is important to know the adaptability of the given variety, how it corresponds to the climatic conditions here. You can buy ready-made complete seeds from our country, but based on Hungarian technology, seeds can also be produced in this region. We are happy to make domestic seeds available to our Bishkek partners, he added. He emphasized that the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund should also be used in the agricultural and food industry. Safe food supply is a strategic issue. The renewal of Kyrgyz animal husbandry can play a key role. Irrigation development was also discussed at the meeting. According to István Nagy, water-saving procedures must be further developed, and we must manage water.
As part of the official trip to Kyrgyzstan, István Nagy visited the Szkrjabin K.I. Kyrgyz National Agrarian University, where he consulted with the rector of the institution. At the meeting, the parties drew attention to the mutual exchange of researchers and students. Strengthening the partnership in the scientific field is in the interest of both parties – underlined the head of the ministry.
