E-commerce is growing fast
GfK has done a major online survey on the digital consumption habits of Hungarians in 2019. The answers given in the 1,500-respodent study have revealed that the number of regular online buyers didn’t increase in the last 12 months, but buying became more frequent (3.4 occasions a month – back in 2018 this number was 3.3 occasions).
Hungarians also spent more on average this year, HUF 30,800/month instead of the HUF 22,100/month in 2018. 32 percent of respondents purchase something online monthly and pay for them online as well. Typically these consumers are 15-39 year old, with a college or university degree, they have a high income and live in Budapest.
Last year the most frequently used online shops were eMAG, eBay and Wish; Vatera’s popularity has decreased. Most shoppers downloaded the Wish and Aliexpress shopping applications. János Bacher, client services director of GfK told: Online video channels are becoming more important in e-commerce and mobile devices are used more frequently in online purchases than before. //
