Sugar rose in price the most in Romania, by 63.56 percent
In Romania, after a two-month slowdown, the inflation rate rose slightly again in February, reaching 15.5 percent on an annual basis, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced on Monday.
Compared to the January level, consumer prices increased by 0.98 percent in February. Compared to last December, the consumer price index in Romania rose by 1.3 percent.
Food prices increased the most in the last year, by an average of 22.35 percent, while non-food products went up by 12.73 percent and services by 10.38 percent.
According to INS data, the price of sugar rose the most, by 63.56 percent. Butter was 45 percent more expensive than last February, potatoes and eggs 35 percent, milk 32 percent, and cooking oil 30 percent more expensive in one year.
