Consumer price inflation slowed in OECD countries in May
In the member states of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the annual growth rate of consumer prices slowed to 0.7 percent in May from 0.9 percent in April; Inflation was 1.7 percent in March and 2.3 percent in February.
Crucial to the moderation was the fact that energy prices fell the most since September 2009, by 13.4 percent, after falling by 12.2 percent in April.
Meanwhile, food prices have risen most markedly since December 2011, by 4.5 percent in May, following a rise of 4.2 percent in April. (MTI)
