Thanks to the two-phase VAT reduction in the hospitality sector, many enterprises had the financial means for investing in development and higher salaries for workers. That was a positive step, but the VAT regulation in force is very complicated and difficult to apply in practice for bars, restaurants and accommodation service providers. It could be a solution to this problem if – just like in other European countries – the preferential VAT rate would be extended to all hospitality services (including take-away sales and home delivery), with the exception of alcoholic drinks. //
