KSH: cereal grains – growing area, decreasing yield
This year’s cereal grain yield was 2 percent less, than in last year. 5.5 million tons was planted on an eight percent more area, compared to the results of the previous year, due to the bad weather conditions. The average yield – except oats – were below the datas of the previous years – the Central Statistics Office (KSH) announced on Thursday.
Wheat was harvested from 1,063 hectares, from a 9 percent larger area than last year. Its 3.972 million tons volume was 3.3 percent lower than in the previous year, and 9.3 percent below the average of the previous five years. The average yield per hectare was 3.74 tons, 11 percent less than last year's 4.2 tons. (MTI)
