KSH: foreign trade deficit was 751 million euros in August

Exports amounted to 8.3 billion euros (2,945 billion HUF) and imports to 9.1 billion euros in August, leaving a foreign trade deficit of 751 million euros, well above the previously estimated deficit of 467 million euros, and at a monthly deficit of 210 million. The balance deteriorated by 1.1 billion euros year-on-year, according to the Central Statistical Office’s (KSH) second estimate released on Tuesday.

The volume of exports was 3.6 percent lower and the volume of imports was 6.9 percent higher in the last month of the summer, compared to the same period of the previous year.

In July, even exports and imports grew, the former by 3.7 percent and the latter by 5.2 percent.

In January-August this year, exports amounted to 77.5 billion euros, imports to 74.8 billion euros, and the foreign trade surplus amounted to 2.7 billion euros. (MTI)
