KSH: GDP grew by 2.2 percent in the first quarter
The volume of gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter was 2.2 percent higher than in the same period of the previous year. According to seasonally, calendar-adjusted and balanced data, the performance of the economy increased by 2.0 percent, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, decreasing by 0.4 percent compared to the previous quarter, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Friday based on its second estimate.
The emergency situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic had an adverse effect on the performance of most sectors of the economy, but market services and, to a lesser extent, industry continued to be the driving force behind growth. (MTI)
