At the event, the State Secretary said that the priority task of the Ministry of Agriculture is to use all means to help small-scale producers to operate effectively and competitively even in the face of changed economic and climatic conditions. Short supply chains are of paramount importance in strengthening the local economy, sustainable food production and security of supply, as well as in facilitating direct access to the market for producers. The Ministry of Agriculture also supports the direct sale of local food through REL tenders and by supporting the establishment of farmers’ markets. Let’s always choose Hungarian products, because they are not only of excellent quality, but by purchasing them we also support local farmers and the livelihood of families, the sustaining power of the countryside and the national economy – he added. Imre Hubai explained that it must be borne in mind that the added value in the food produced by the producer becomes an economic force if the sale is made to consumers through as few actors as possible. To this end, the Ministry of Agriculture announced the tender entitled “Development of Short Supply Chains”, for which almost 2 billion forints of funding was requested.

As part of the Open Doors Day event series, 150 small producers from 4 regions will open their doors and welcome consumers across the country

The aim of the program series is to connect the market access of valuable and competitive local products with gastronomy and the promotion of agrotourism. As part of the event, the Sakura Awards were presented to those restaurants and producers who, in their gastro-cultural activities, pay special attention to the preservation and transfer of local values and the promotion of the quality of life in the countryside.
