SPAR Magyarország has switched to compartments that support environmentally conscious operation
In 2024, SPAR Hungary will introduce a new type of reusable transport compartments in the fruit and vegetable departments. The foldable, recyclable, easy-to-clean, durable compartments will appear in all SPAR stores during the year.
“Achieving environmental sustainability is a strategic issue for SPAR Hungary. Our important goal is to reduce waste production, help prevent its generation, and increase the amount of recycling. In 2023, we also took a number of measures that serve these goals. Among other things, we decided to use less plastic in the packaging of some products, and we also save a significant amount of plastic film by covering some of the shipments with a reusable rolli tarpaulin. And with our new, digital solutions, we managed to greatly reduce paper-based administration. One of this year’s important steps in this field is the uniform introduction of the so-called “IFCO” storage compartments in the SPAR network, which not only strengthen us in the field of food safety, but also help our environmentally conscious operation.
– emphasized Márk Maczelka, head of communications at SPAR Hungary.
