Without government help the onion of Makó may disappear from the market
In recent years, the Makói onion-growing area decreased to 150 hectares from the former 4000 hectares, without government support this product may disappear from the market – can be read at the kormány.hu portal, in the summary over the 21st International Onion Festival of Makó.
At the event, Fazekas Sándor, Rural Development Minister said that the Ministry of Rural Development (VM) will give professional help and technical assistance for the breeding and selection of appropriate varieties to the producers. Important components of the rural development strategy are irrigation development, that is essential for the production of onions – he added – reports MTI.
