The competition law rules may be seriously tightened
Since mid-March, a remarkable draft law has been circulating in the parliament, which, if passed, could bring about significant changes in the lives of businesses. The government would seriously rewrite the rules of competition law, introducing the concept of companies of fundamental importance, which would be applied to companies with significant influence on the given market, reports Portfolio.
It is clear from the draft law that the Economic Competition Office would determine companies that fall into the category of fundamental importance based on sector investigations. In the case of such enterprises, it would be prohibited to enter into agreements or engage in concerted behavior that hinders, limits or distorts economic competition, including the determination of purchase or sale prices and the influence of other business conditions.
