Last year the leadership of the craft union received feedback from members about a decline in turnover compared to the same period in the previous year.

LIn order to assess the situation and the problems the profession is facing, the presidency sent out a questionnaire, which it repeated this year. In this article you can read the first part of the report on the results of the survey. Once again this year’s survey covered the first seven months of the year. It was revealed that sales are predominantly mixed, as nearly 90% of responding confectioneries offer both takeaway and on-site consumption options.

Nearly half of the respondents (48.8%) operate in Budapest or its surroundings. Most confectioneries are micro and small businesses and the biggest proportion, 27.9% have 11-20 employees. Based on the results 86%, experienced a change in sales revenue vs. the same period last year. Of those reporting a change 51% mentioned a negative trend and 49% a positive trend. According to the survey data, all respondents raised their prices compared to the previous year: 51.2% increased prices by more than 5% and 37.2% raised prices by more than 10%.
