Mangalica fat used to worth more than the pig’s meat and Emperor Franz Joseph himself used to own 3 million Mangalica pigs. Péter Ondré, managing director of the Agricultural Marketing Centre (AMC) told: this spring they launched a campaign to increase the consumption of products made from Mangalica pigs, which are bred using plant-based, GMO-free animal feed. The Omega-3 content of this pig variety’s meat is 2-3 times bigger than that of certain fish types. AMC won’t only implement an advertising campaign but will also organise tasting sessions.
