Growing wheat costs are a challenge for Barilla
Tight global wheat supplies and soaring raw material prices are posing a challenge for Italian pasta maker Barilla (established in 1877) – at the same time also exposing fragility in the food system. Intense heat has withered wheat crops in the summer months, which caused shortages for buyers.
