Our primary goal is the development of fish stocks in natural waters, the rehabilitation of spawning grounds, and the protection of self-sustaining stocks – Minister of Agár István Nagy stated on Monday, at the press conference held in connection with the 2022 performance report of MOHOSZ. The minister reminded that MOHOSZ is a strategic partner of the Ministry of Agriculture. Last year was also extremely difficult for agriculture due to the historic drought and wartime inflation, and of course all these effects did not escape fish production and fish farming, he added.

They do not increase the price of fishing tickets

At the event, István Nagy announced that in order to ensure the safety of fishing and the stability of the number of staff, in agreement with MOHOSZ, there are no plans to increase the price of state fishing tickets for 2024. In addition, the new, five-year price of Hungarian Fishing Cards and accident insurances to be renewed will also remain unchanged in the case of the digitized document. The minister drew attention to the fact that they support the restocking of the native fish stock of Lake Velence as soon as possible.

MOHOSZ also contributes to fish farming

The Minister of Agriculture also mentioned that from January 2017, MOHOSZ will use state-owned natural waters suitable for fishing, and from 2019, the fishing association will operate as a public service organization. All of this was realized by the government creating a cover for the performance of tasks. The source of the task performance is the fees that form the main state income of fish farming, such as the state fishing and fishing license, as well as the catch log fee, as of 2019, directly constituting the income of MOHOSZ. From 2018, including this year, this amount will reach HUF 8 billion, to which the year 2022 discussed in the report contributed almost HUF 1.6 billion, the minister added.
