Publication helps farmers apply for the new Agri-Environmental Management Support
A new agri-environmental management program (AKG) will be launched in Hungary from January 1, 2025. The National Chamber of Agriculture has summarized information about the AKG in a handbook so that farmers can make responsible decisions and make the environmental and nature conservation commitments that are most suitable for them in the program.
The new 5-year commitment period of the Agri-Environmental Management Program (AKG) will start from January 1, 2025. Producers can submit support applications electronically from November 25 to December 23 on the Hungarian State Treasury. The National Chamber of Agriculture has prepared a handbook on the new AKG program in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture. The aim of this is to help understand and interpret the new call for applications. Farmers can use the publication to get an idea of the support opportunities and the new or updated regulations.
The AKG serves to compensate for the additional costs and decreasing incomes resulting from more environmentally conscious farming
Farmers entering the support system undertake to slightly modify their farming practices and follow a system of regulations that contributes to maintaining or increasing biodiversity, strengthening natural self-regulating processes, protecting and improving the biological status of the soil. Furthermore, they contribute to the fight against climate change by encouraging environmentally friendly farming methods. The aim of the AKG is, among other things, to encourage farmers to use agricultural production methods that are compatible with the sustainable use of the environment, landscape and natural resources, and to help them adapt to changed environmental conditions.
