Fewer pesticides were sold in 2023
The volume of plant protection products sold in 2023 decreased by 22 percent compared to 2022. When examined by category, it can be established that the turnover of other agents decreased the most, by nearly 40 percent, followed by that of insecticides by 23.6 percent.
The volume of fungicides and collective packages sold decreased by 5-6 percent, while that of herbicides fell by 16.3 percent In 2023, there was the greatest demand for herbicides (33.8 percent), followed by other agents (21.6 percent), insecticides (20.1 percent), and fungicides (18.7 percent) and last but not least, collective packages (5.8 percent). In terms of value, herbicides accounted for the largest proportion of annual sales (37.3 percent), followed by fungicides (30.1 percent), then insecticides (15.8 percent), collective packages (8.7 percent) and other drugs (8.1 percent). Within the total sales (in volume), the share of all product categories, with the exception of insecticides and other agents, increased compared to the previous year, while the share of other agents fell the most, by 23.8 percentage points.
