While the majority of respondents (42%) still wrap presents in wrapping paper, which is considered the best option from a sustainability point of view, this proportion is down from 59% in 2022. In 2023 21% of respondents used paper bags or paper boxes, compared to 36% in 2022. Responses show that the use of environmentally friendly packaging isn’t a decisive factor for shoppers: this year half of consumers said they prefer not to use this when buying gifts, compared to 38% last year. The trend is similar for online purchases, where the proportion has decreased from 59% to 47%, informed Zsolt Miklós, managing director of the company. //
