Sustainability was less important at Christmas
Rondo Hullámkartongyártó Kft. surveyed the Christmas gift wrapping habits of Hungarians in November (by asking around 1,000 people), and compared the data for 2023 and 2022.

While the majority of respondents (42%) still wrap presents in wrapping paper, which is considered the best option from a sustainability point of view, this proportion is down from 59% in 2022. In 2023 21% of respondents used paper bags or paper boxes, compared to 36% in 2022. Responses show that the use of environmentally friendly packaging isn’t a decisive factor for shoppers: this year half of consumers said they prefer not to use this when buying gifts, compared to 38% last year. The trend is similar for online purchases, where the proportion has decreased from 59% to 47%, informed Zsolt Miklós, managing director of the company. //
