Kevésbé fontos a magyaroknak a fenntarthatóság idén, mint tavaly karácsonykor volt
Basically, the population pays less attention to environmental awareness this Christmas – it is clear from the comparison of the research results of Rondo Hullámkartongyártó Kft. last year and this year. Compared to last year, the proportion of those who would be willing to pay extra for environmentally friendly packaging has decreased, and the priorities of online buyers regarding sustainable packaging have also changed.
Rondo Hullámkartongyártó Kft. investigated the gift wrapping habits of Hungarians for the upcoming holidays. Compared to last year’s results, this year there will be fewer people who will be able to tear off the patterned paper from their gift under the tree – even though this is considered the best solution from a sustainability point of view. The majority of respondents (42%) still wrap surprises in wrapping paper at Christmas, but this is a drop compared to last year’s 59 percent. 21 percent of the respondents use paper bags or paper boxes this year, while 36 percent of the respondents made the same decision last year.
It can be read from the answers that the use of environmentally friendly packaging materials is not crucial for the respondents: half of the respondents said that they prefer not to make decisions based on this when buying a gift. This percentage has changed a lot compared to last year’s results, since only 38 percent said so then.
Last year, more than a third of the respondents (37%) still largely kept in mind the importance of environmentally friendly packaging, this year only a quarter of the respondents (27%) answered in this way. The proportion of those who considered environmentally friendly packaging as a main consideration when buying gifts also decreased (from 14% to 9%).
