Hungarians are less worried about the climate crisis than the global average
Hungarians feel the negative effects of climate change more and more on their own skin, however, they consider the livelihood crisis to be the most important problem of the present time, and only this is followed by the occurrence of a possible ecological disaster – Epson’s global sustainability research revealed. Although the domestic respondents see the future of our planet more pessimistically than the international average, at the level of action they prefer to expect the solution from the companies.
The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly apparent worldwide, including in Hungary, where the average annual temperature rose by 1.15°C between 1907 and 2017. This value also exceeded the global average temperature change, which was +0.9°C in the same period. The researchers warn that the rising temperature trend is likely to continue, especially in the eastern and southern parts of the country. And although the annual rainfall does not show significant changes, the Carpathian basin is threatened by high flood and moderate drought risks.
