Two-digit growth in value and volume sales alike
In the two-month Easter period of 2014 ham and smoked meat were sold in the value of HUF 7 billion. This constitutes a 15-percent increase from the category’s performance in the 2013 Easter period. Cooked ham’s – the biggest segment – value sales rose 17 percent and volume sales gained 1 percentage point. The volume weighted average price of ham was HUF 1,881/kg in last March-April – it cost 2 percent more than in the base period. Cooked ham was selling for HUF 2,026/kg (the average price was 2 percent higher in this segment too). Stores with a floor space above 400m² realised nearly three quarters of ham value sales
