A checkout-free container store improves shopping experience
At a press event last night, Mastercard presented an innovative, artificial intelligence- and technology-based, mobile checkout-free store on the domestic market
For some, shopping is an experience, for some it is more of a necessity. Whether it is a traditional or self-service cash register, the products you want to buy must be unloaded from the basket onto the counter or belt, scanned one by one and finally paid for. The latest research and expert opinions confirm that a fast and efficient shopping experience with minimal waiting time is increasingly important to customers. The new mobile container store without a cash register, equipped with the most modern systems controlled by artificial intelligence, offers a solution for just that.
Shopping in the store is extremely simple: to enter, customers just need to launch an application, freely collect the products from the shelves in the shopping area, and then leave happily. Payment is made in the background with the bank card connected to the application after departure. The Kende Retail Operation Kft. presented the store as an exclusive distributor, which interested parties can also try at Budapest Park until July 10.
“At Mastercard, we are constantly working to make payments as simple as possible for customers in all situations. Nobody likes to pay, so we all want to spend as little time as possible at the cash register. Technology now makes it possible to complete the purchase without waiting, as all necessary processes take place in the background with the usual security. This is when check-in is also check-out,” said Ferenc Szász, Mastercard’s business development director.
Shopping is truly an experience, as we can even pack the selected products into our own bag right away, and the application used to enter takes care of payment without a cash register for us. However, for this you need to know what products we have chosen, which is determined with the help of artificial intelligence-controlled cameras and weight sensors. It does all of this in a GDPR-compliant way from a data protection point of view, the cameras do not record faces.
Mastercard is happy to support the new technology, as it is with the help of these forward-looking innovations that the process of everyday payments will be smoother.
According to the plans, the special mobile container store will be available at the Business Days Conference too.
