The Media Union Foundation’s social campaign to reduce food waste is launched
In Hungary, 68 kg of food per person goes to the bins every year, and more than half of the food waste comes from households. In order to reduce these numbers, this year’s Social Union Social Initiative aims to reduce food waste. Starting in August, the campaign aims to raise awareness of food waste and, in the long term, to reduce food waste.
Food value is what needs to be estimated. About 30,000 people on Earth die every day from causes linked to hunger, while globally third of food is thrown away. Every year, 88 million tons of food are wasted in the European Union, and in Hungary, 270 kg of food per family lands in the bins. Not only does food waste have a bad effect on your wallet, it can also cause serious environmental damage.
