German retail sales rose unexpectedly sharply in June
In June, due to the easing of restrictions, retail sales in Germany increased more than expected, according to a report by the German Federal Statistical Office, Destatis, based on preliminary data.
In June, with price, calendar and seasonal adjustment, retail sales in Germany rose 4.2 percent after a 4.6 percent monthly increase in May. The market expected 2.0 percent growth in June.
Retail sales in Germany increased by 6.2 percent year-on-year in June with a price adjustment. In May, the turnover was 1.8 percent lower than a year before. (MTI)
