Portugal bans single-use plastics as of July
Single-use plastics are banned in Portugal after a European directive enters into force on 1 July 2021. The Portuguese government had wanted to implement the measure last year, but the COVID-19 pandemic led to a postponement. However, the measure is now being criticised for not being ambitious enough by organisations such as the Portuguese Pact for Plastics.
