The excellent Hungarian melons will be marketed in early July
This year more high-quality Hungarian melons will be marketed in the first week of July – the president of the Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Organization and Marketing Board (FruitVeB) told MTI.
Mártonffy Béla, president of the FruitVeB talked this on Thursday before the melon season-opening meeting in Csányoszró.
He added that this year 5 to 10 percent more lemons are expected to be harvested than the 210 thousand tons of the last year from the Hungarian melon fields. In July and in August, Hungary will be the largest melon exporter in Europe. About half of the Hungarian crop will be exported to mainly EU countries. (MTI)
