Smartphone counterfeiting causes significant losses and health risks
The smartphone forgery in addition to the serious health and security risks causes significant economic losses. 14 million counterfeited smartphones are sold in the EU each year – according to the European Union’s Intellectual Property Office’s (EUIPO) latest report.
According to the communication of the National Board Against Counterfeiting (NBAC) sent to MTI on Tuesday that explains the EUIPO’s data: the distribution of forged smartphones causes around 4.2 billion euros (around 1,200 billion HUF) sales losses in 2015 and the 14 million forged decices make up 8.3 percent of the industry’s sales.
