ITM: action against product presentations that were misleading the customers was successful
Action against misleading product presentations was successful; As a result, the number of complaints has fallen to a fraction: only two were received, compared with an average monthly 43 in 2015 – Schanda Tamás, Parliamentary Minister of State of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM) said in Budapest on Thursday.
The companies organizing the purchase-related events targeted vulnerable elderly people, and they often concluded a bad credit deal with them – he recalled. An amendment to the law passed in December 2015 prohibited the promotion of free allowances, gifts, and credit mediation at product presentations launches to prevent consumer indebtedness, and stricter customer service rules, so sellers had to remain available after the purchase.
