In a study commissioned by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM), preparations containing vitamins and minerals and live flora probiotics were tested, a total of forty-one; the ministry’s food and chemical laboratory compared the actual composition of the products with the regulations and the markings on the packaging and label, with only four cases of objectionable discrepancies, ITM informed MTI on Friday.

According to the report, one of the dietary supplements found twice as much zinc and half as much vitamin C as reported.
Dietary supplements contain nutrients in a concentrated form. Taking them is due to a weakening of the immune system, or if the body does not get enough vitamins and minerals from food. Probiotics with live microorganisms help maintain a healthy gut flora. Their use may be necessary especially in case of antibiotic treatment. (MTI)
