McDonald’s opened an intelligent industrial park
McDonald’s has taken a major step towards deepening its presence in the Chinese market by opening a new smart industrial park in central China’s Hopei Province. The facility, built with an investment of more than 200 million dollars, will produce nearly 300 million loaves of bread, 30,000 tons of meat products, 30 million baked goods and two billion packaging products annually.
The American fast food chain partnered with four bakeries and food suppliers, including Bimbo and Tyson Foods, to launch the food supply base. The industrial park, which was put into operation on Wednesday in the city of Hopej Hxiaokan, covers an area of more than 300,000 square meters and operates in the areas of food production, packaging and cold chain logistics.
The average automation rate of production processes in the industrial park exceeds 70 percent. Phyllis Cheung, CEO of McDonald’s China, said that the industrial park has used technologies such as IoT (Internet of Things) and Big Data, which enable everything from raw materials to manufacturing and warehousing to logistics and cold chain. real-time monitoring of the data of the entire process until distribution.
Cheung emphasized that McDonald’s has been present in China for 30 years and has opened more than six thousand restaurants, making the Asian country the company’s second largest and fastest growing market. The launch of an intelligent park for food supply is an important step in deepening our involvement in the Chinese market. The industrial park will improve the supply efficiency of McDonald’s stores and accelerate the localization of the company in the central and western regions of China.
