This is how McDonald’s prices changed due to inflation
In the last two years, the prices of restaurants, especially popular fast food restaurants, have risen significantly. According to the Pénzcentrum survey, prices in restaurants will increase by 19.8 percent in 2022, and by 24.5 percent in 2023.
The change was also felt in the McDonald’s range, but it is interesting that the increase in the price of small products fell short of the general inflation. Based on data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH), by December 2023, the average price of a hamburger in the country had increased by 21 percent in one year, and by 76 percent in two years. At the same time, McDonald’s basic burgers, such as the Big Mac, cheeseburger and hamburger, went up in price below average – 17-22 percent in one year, and 47-49 percent in two years. Based on the average December prices reported by KSH, the price of a hamburger was HUF 1,600, while a local Big Mac was HUF 1,400, a cheeseburger was HUF 630, and a hamburger was HUF 590. The price of a large potato was HUF 960. During this period, McDonald’s products rose in price slightly below average inflation. According to the KSH, the increase in the price of burgers was 47-49 percent in two years, while the price of potatoes increased by 33% in two years. It’s worth noting that these averages take into account all kinds of burgers eaten locally, so there are limits to the comparison.
