This is how Dominik Szoboszlai’s McDonald’s spot was made
Dominik Szoboszlai now gives you an assist – this is the concept of the new campaign of the domestic McDonald’s, which presents the first domestic offer of the global Famous Orders, the domestic “Mekis favorites” menu compiled in cooperation with the star of Liverpool and the Hungarian national football team. The menu and the TV spot debuted on June 4, and a feature film was made for the campaign, thanks to which we can see behind the scenes.
Meki is one of the most well-known brands in the world, and Dominik Szoboszlai has become a real world star in the last couple of years, so there was no question that the team formed in this way should be completed by a similarly world-class director. The American Justin Reardon previously worked on such award-winning campaigns as Budweiser’s “Whassup?!”, which won the Cannes Grand Prix, or the cult Nutrigrain’s “Feel Great”. Justin has been living with his family in Hungary for 8 years, but this is his first commercial film that he made in Hungary.
In the feature film, Dominik Szoboszlai, Justin Reardon, and Dávid Aniot, a representative of the Hungarian McDonald’s marketing team, tell how this unusual collaboration was realized.
The history of the “Meki’s Favorites” offers can be traced back to the 2020 Super Bowl, when they were introduced by the United
In the States, the “Famous Orders” advertising spot with the message: “Anyone can have a favorite Mekis menu”. Encouraged by the success of the commercial, McDonald’s took the idea further and allowed fans to order their favorite Mekis menu from their favorite celebrity. Famous Orders, i.e. “Meki’s favourites”, thus left the world of advertising and was created as a real restaurant offer.
