The Green Pledge is once again open for applications – now in its third year, the initiative rewards communication practices that prioritize environmental and sustainability considerations in the planning and execution of marketing communications.

The Green Pledge initiative, launched by the Self-Regulatory Advertising Board (ÖRT), the Hungarian Marketing Association (MMSZ), and the Association of Hungarian Communication Agencies (MAKSZ), is entering its third call for applications in 2025. The objective remains the same: to direct the attention of the Hungarian marketing and advertising industry more strongly toward environmental protection, appropriate representation of the environment, and the avoidance of greenwashing (misleading environmental claims).

This year’s novelty is that the Data-Driven Marketing Association (DIMSZ) and the Hungarian Public Relations Association (MPRSZ) have also joined the initiative as professional partners, allowing their members to apply as well — further expanding the community committed to responsible communication.

Applications for the Green Pledge certification are once again welcome in 2025. The certification is awarded to organizations and companies that demonstrate exemplary achievements in the field through case studies including photos and data.

Applications can be submitted via the website www.greenpledge.hu, where interested parties can also learn more about the program’s commitments and goals.

This year, applications will be accepted in the following six categories:

  • green education,
  • green advertising production,
  • green content,
  • green advertising practices,
  • green claims,
  • and other categories.

Entries will be evaluated by an independent panel of more than 15 professionals. The jury is once again chaired by Prof. Dr. Gyula Bándi, Deputy Ombudsman for Future Generations. The award ceremony will again be held during the top event of the domestic marketing and business scene, the Marketing Summit Budapest 2025.

To date, nearly fifty major companies have supported the initiative, and thirteen of them – Alfa Vienna, Artificial Group, Henkel, K&H, Kia, Mastercard, Mediator, Neo Interactive, reNEW Technologies, SPAR, Uniomedia, Well PR, and Yettel – have already received the Green Pledge certification at a ceremonial event held last year at MÜPA as part of the Marketing Summit, in recognition of their outstanding work in environmentally conscious advertising.
